The Best Quit Smoking Tips

AUTHOR: Mark Seagrave

Quit Smoking Tip
The decision to quit smoking is one of the best decisions you’ll ever make. You will be lengthening your life, removing nicotine and its detrimental effects from your system, and increasing your energy and vitality. Your self-esteem will rise and you will feel good about trying new things. Not surprisingly, becoming a nonsmoker will open new horizons to you.

So having decided to quit, there are lots of quit smoking tips and techniques to make the process less painful. You can find lots of ideas on the Internet or just by visiting your family doctor. Collecting as many of these quit smoking tips as you can will increase your chances of lasting success.

Quit smoking tip #1
Decide on a specific date that you will quit smoking. Plan ahead by getting rid of all tobacco products and paraphernalia associated with them. Consider getting your drapes cleaned, and send your clothes to the cleaners so you can experience a fresh-smelling home and wardrobe.

Quit smoking tip #2
Make an appointment with your family doctor. Now is a great time to get a thorough check-up and go over your medical history in detail. Your doctor can suggest a combination of stop smoking methods that can make the process smooth and effective for you. Now is also a good time to make an appointment with your dentist to have your teeth cleaned. You might look into whitening products or treatments too – you deserve a fresh, bright smile. Won’t it be great to stop looking at nicotine stains?

Quit smoking tip #3
Add some new activities to your life. You have to replace the time normally spent smoking with other, more positive ways. You might like to take up a sport – your lungs will be clear and so exercise and outdoor activities will once again be enjoyable to you.
Now is the time to develop some new interests – you might consider taking up a hobby like knitting or quilting, woodworking or some other form of working with your hands. This will be a great help when you are tempted to reach for a pack of cigarettes.

Quit smoking tip #4
Join a smokers’ support group. Here you will develop new friendships with other smokers who are also trying to change their lives. You will find support and encouragement, and you will share common struggles and success stories.

Quit smoking tip #5
Finally, you will be saving lots of money each week by no longer buying cigarettes. While you are in the process of quitting, set this amount aside each week in a special “just for you” fund that you’ll use for items and services you wouldn’t normally indulge yourself with. Treat yourself to a new outfit, or a visit to the spa. Set a goal for something you’ve wanted to do – perhaps a trip to Disney World or a new car. Reward yourself for making such a big change in your life – you deserve it!
