Which Quit Smoking Product Is Right for You?

AUTHOR: Mark Seagrave

Quit Smoking Product
Once you’ve decided that smoking will no longer be a part of your life, you are already well on your way to a healthier life. You’ve done the hardest part, which is to decide and commit to a new course of action. Changing an ingrained habit is never easy, and especially one as addictive as smoking.

On your journey to reach a new level of health and be free of a nasty addiction like smoking, there are lots of resources you can employ to make the process easier. You might think you can just accomplish your goal on your own, but in fact, it’s been proven that using a combination of quit smoking methods leads to a greater success rate among smokers who try to quit. Not every method works for every person, and there are considerations of price and lifestyle to consider. With so many methods to choose from, how do you know which quit smoking product is right for you?

Stop smoking prescription drugs

Your doctor is a good place to start when considering quit smoking products. He knows your medical history and can make recommendations to fit your situation. One popular quit smoking product that you can only get from your doctor is the stop smoking pill. One of the most widely available is Zyban, which was originally developed to help those suffering from depression. The reason this medication is so effective with smokers is that it helps greatly with the withdrawal symptoms. It often comes in a time-release formula that reduces these symptoms. Because it contains no nicotine, many people like this as a method to quit smoking.

If you decide on this quit smoking product, you’ll want to plan to start taking it a couple of weeks before you actually quit smoking. Your doctor will be able to direct you about how best to utilize this method. Your doctor might also suggest using Zyban in conjunction with some other quit smoking products.

Nicotine patches

A nicotine patch is another popular and very effective quit smoking product that many people are using today. The patches are either skin-colored or transparent, and they provide a measured dose of nicotine through a person’s skin. Different strength patches are available for different stages of a person’s journey to nonsmoking. The patches can be placed on a person’s arm or shoulder – anywhere on the upper part of the body, and each day a new patch is applied. The measured dose of nicotine makes this quit smoking product appealing to those who crave nicotine and have not had success quitting cold turkey.

These are just two of the many quit smoking products available. You’ll also want to explore other methods like nicotine gum, lozenges, inhalers, and nasal sprays. Alternative methods like acupuncture and hypnosis are also very effective for some people. Whichever quit smoking product you decide to try, you can expect to receive the added help you need to quit smoking for good.
